3U CompactPCI® with Intel® Atom™ XL and FPGA

The F11S is a versatile 3U CompactPCI® SBC, based on the Intel® Atom™ XL processor with a power consumption of max. 5 to 7 Watts, while having a clock frequency of up to 1.6 GHz. A specially outlined heat sink efficiently takes away the heat from the board, even in extended temperature range.

The F11S accommodates up to 2 GB of soldered-on main memory, 2 MB SRAM and an SPI boot Flash. A SATA interface is available at CompactPCI® connector J2. The storage capacity is completed by a CompactFlash® socket and a microSD™ card slot.

The standard front I/O includes a COM interface via D-Sub, two USB 2.0, graphics via VGA or UXGA and a PS/2 interface for connection of a keyboard or a mouse. Further interfaces are a Gigabit Ethernet slot via PCI Express® x1 and an FPGA-based Fast Ethernet slot on RJ45 connectors.

In order to be able to meet the requirements of the respective application as best as possible, the onboard FPGA allows the implementation of additional customer-specific interfaces, such as serial interfaces, CAN bus, binary I/O, protocol converters or touch controllers. In addition, up to 3 SA-Adapters™ for additional I/O can be placed on the F11S. Depending on the number of adapters, the card occupies 8 HP or 12 HP in the system.

The combination of the flexible and space-saving FPGA, the low-power Atom processors and Windows® as a standard OS make the F11S especially suitable for all kinds of mobile applications. The board is already used in automatic train control applications where features like operability in the extended temperature range and a minimum availability until 2014 are a must-have.
