The SC21 is a single-board computer for intelligent display solutions in mobile applications. It was developed for fanless and maintenance-free operation as an infotainment computer or in the driver's cabin of trains, buses or trams. The SBC is perfectly suited for controlling LVDS displays with a resolution of up to 1366x768 pixels. The compact dimensions of the assembly permit to use 10.4" or bigger displays.

The Intel® Atom™ XL processor Z520PT offers a frequency of up to 1.33 GHz with a power dissipation of max. 8 W. This makes it possible to realize a complete display computer based on the SC21 for operating temperatures from -40 to +70°C.

The boards supports 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM, two USB ports, five binary inputs and two Fast Ethernet (via RJ45). The switch functionality enables a series connection of several displays. In addition, a temperature sensor monitors the display.

All interfaces except the LVDS signals and the brightness control are placed on a customizable I/O adapter PCB. A MiniPCI Express® card slot with a SIM card slot can be connected to an external antenna for offering wireless functions like WIFI, WIMAX, GSM/GPRS and UMTS.

MEN's display computers (DC) are based on the DC1 which was the first member of a whole family of display computers. They are all based on a very flexible modular configuration concept. The DC1 is the basis for most customized DC versions. As rugged, fanless and maintenance-free panel PCs, MEN's display computers are used for harsh, mobile and mission-critical applications.

The DC1 is built around Intel®'s Atom processors with a frequency of up to 1.6 GHz and a performance comparable to a Pentium® M with 1 GHz or more. 1 GB working memory and 4 GB USB-controlled Flash disk supply enough capacity for every application. Standard I/O comprises 2 USB, 2 Fast Ethernet, 1 UART as well as binary inputs and can optionally be extended by HD Audio or IBIS field bus functionality. Wireless functions such as WIFI, WIMAX, GSM/GPRS, UMTS can optionally be implemented via a MiniPCI Express® card slot in combination with an external antenna. Thus, loading of new display contents is possible. All signals are collected at the bottom side of the DC1 which enables the DC1 to be fixed on any mounting device.

The off-the-shelf DC1, which is equipped with a 15" display and a wide-range PSU with 9-36 V (optionally also 18-75 V or 36-154 V), is IP54-protected at the front and complies to railway standard EN 50155.

The XC2 is a carrier board designed for intelligent display solutions (as the DC1) and offers one ESMexpress® COM slot that can be used together with Intel®-based ESMexpress® modules.

Thus, the XC2 provides physical interfaces and connectors for nearly all of the modern serial standard I/Os routable from the ESMexpress® connectors to the carrier board as defined in the specification. The functionality of all connectors depends on the ESMexpress® module used.

The XC2 complies with the EN 50155, class Tx railway standard in order to be used for rugged infotainment applications in trains, undergrounds and public buses.
