Custom Design

For many years MEN has designed and produced not only standard products but also a huge variety of customized SBCs, I/O boards, Ethernet switches and fieldbus gateways, display and box computers, human-machine interfaces, panel PCs, 19" and DIN-rail systems.

Depending on the application, solutions may be offered from the following:

• COTS products and modified COTS products
• Semi-customized solutions
• Full custom solutions
• Any of these may incorporate additional I/O configurations in an FPGA

The general goal is to find the most cost effective solution for the application to be implemented. This may be realized if the solution is individually tailored to the application while using as many COTS components as possible.

This can only be achieved if the supplier has the necessary experience in circuit technology and is able to provide a product that is reliable for many years, including support. To do this, the supplier must offer comprehensive expertise from one source:

• Hardware design capability
• Software experience to optimize the performance of the hardware
• Production knowledge to allow reliable production of highly integrated circuitry
• Logistics support in order to deliver on time at any time
• The understanding of applicable standards to meet the requirements of the different markets, e.g., EN 50155 (railways) or DO-254 (aerospace)
• Certified quality for demanding markets, e.g., EN 9100 (aerospace) or IRIS (railways)
