Description
Telemetry systems allow remote measurement and reporting of information. In rolling stock applications these systems typically need to comply with EN 50155.
In an application in subways and streetcars, such a diagnosis computer monitors and logs data of the motor functions, the door-closing mechanisms and other functions that are reported to the depot during travel. The 3U CompactPCI® system is equipped with a modified Intel® Atom™ based F11S single-board computer using M12 connectors for the Ethernet channels. The power supply has its own intelligence for the shutdown of the system.
Another application supports real-time data transfers between train and shore-based systems for non-critical activities such as announcements, timetables, CCTV, location, alarms, etc. The CompactPCI® PlusIO system is based on an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo F19P single-board computer. It houses different platforms like a headless unit, a maintenance simulator platform, a shore server and a mobile gateway.
In a service application for high-speed trains, the railway carriage is connected wirelessly to the computer center of the operator via WLAN, UMTS, GSM-P and optional GSM-R. The new time-saving and resource-friendly system provides on-the-fly updates for seat reservation, diagnosis of the carriage, definition of the carriage and passenger information. The CompactPCI® system comes with a custom backplane and a 3U CompactPCI® PlusIO COTS F19P single-board computer. The Intel® Core™ 2 Duo card is equipped with a larger heat sink to handle environment temperatures up to +85°C and connects the Gigabit Ethernet channels via rugged M12 connectors. All wireless interfaces are implemented with two PCI Express® Mini cards on one F212 card with on-board diplexer. An F210 card adds the GSM-R option to the system.
