Wireless Service System

Modern trains provide travellers with all kinds of information, e.g., pending seat reservations, information about the current trip like potential connections and other services. This application takes care of all data transfer between individual trains and the railway company's central servers via UMTS and/or WLAN. It also provides GPS functionality, optimizing the passenger information available within the train at any given moment.

The system is based on the F19P CompactPCI® PlusIO CPU board with an F212 PCI Express® Mini Card carrier providing the UMTS and WLAN functionality and an F210 for GPS and serial I/O.
