This 3U 2-slot versatile I/O and communication card provides a 32-bit/33-MHz interface to the CompactPCI® bus. It features a combination of well-established standard industry interfaces in wireless and fieldbus communication, accompanied by two legacy 2-wire RS485 interfaces and some binary I/O for general purpose functions.
The on-board GPS submodule (Global Positioning System) is connected to an active antenna via the front panel and provides the power supply for it. Communication with the GPS module is done via an 1kV optically isolated serial interface.
The on-board GSM submodule (Global System for Mobile Communications) is connected to an external antenna via the front panel and supports also GSM-R services. Communication is done via an 1kV optically isolated serial interface. The communication speed ranges from 300 Bps up to 230400 Bps.
IBIS (Integrated On-Board Information System) is a 4-wire serial interface which has been established as a standard in the public transportation sector for control of display modules. The telegrams (packages) are transmitted with 1200 Baud. The interface is galvanically isolated with 1kV.
An industry standard optically isolated CAN bus interface is also available on the board.
The tacho interface is also optically isolated with 1kV. Debouncing is done inside the on-board FPGA.
The two RS485 interfaces are optically isolated by digital isolators. Both serial interfaces are realized as IP cores inside the on-board FPGA.
Binary I/O includes 8 external binary outputs at the front which are isolated by relays to system GND and which provide a current up to 35mA (154V). Another 5 external binary inputs are optically isolated by means of optocouplers and provide a reverse-connect protection. Their maximum input voltage is 154 VDC.
All connections are available at the front panel of the board. In parallel 16 binary I/Os and one RS485 can be accessed via rear I/O.
The board is fully compliant with railway standard EN 50155. For example, all components are specified for an operation temperature of -40 to +85°C and conformal coating is prepared.
