About Display Computers

Rugged display computers for extremely safety-critical mobile markets like railway, buses, agricultural machines, commercial vehicles, avionics and shipbuilding as well as other mission-critical applications.

MEN offers a wide range of display computer systems based on a flexible modular configuration concept. The control electronics are available as a stand-alone product (e.g., the SC21 and the SC24) or as part of a complete panel PC system (the DC Display Computer series), directly attached to the back of the screen. Application-specific housing is available, e.g., with hidden I/O or extremely rugged enclosure (up to IP65), and systems can be designed to fit customer-specific types of housing or mounting installations, e.g., within public transportation vehicles.

Supported screen sizes range from 10.4" up to 21" with aspect ratios like 4:3, 16:9 or 16:10 and various resolutions. Options include dual screen support, touch functionality and brightness sensors for automatic control of the display's backlight.

The DC series' design is always realized without fans, using conductive cooling between the electronics and the display to spread the dissipated heat to the outside of the housing. MEN's display computers can be qualified according to the applicable quality and safety standards of the different markets they have been designed for. One example would be EN 50155 compliant PSUs with a nominal input voltage of 110 VDC for railway applications.

For both complete systems and stand-alone control electronics, the standard configuration features one or two USB ports and two Fast Ethernet ports (Gigabit Ethernet in the SC24). Additional I/O may optionally comprise HD audio and a UART interface or fieldbus functions like IBIS. PCI Express® Mini Card slots in combination with an external antenna (located on an I/O board like the AE51 in case of the SC24) can be used to incorporate wireless functions like WIFI, WIMAX, GSM/GPRS, UMTS etc.
