Intelligent Well System Control
This control platform for intelligent well systems is realized as a pre-integrated and pre-validated 3-slot 3U 24HP CompactPCI system with its own rugged power supply unit, a PU2. The system's core is an F14 Intel Pentium M SBC (1 GHz, 512 MB of RAM) running Windows XP Professional. It offers 1 Gigabit Ethernet and 1 Fast Ethernet interface and it is equipped with an F600 side card and an F206 peripheral card, each adding two UARTs. The F600 also serves as a hard-disk drive carrier for an 80GB HDD. The entire system is designed for an operating temperature from -40 to +85°C.
Standard Components Used in this Example
Equipped with the high-performance Intel 2-GHz Pentium M down to the 1-GHz ultra low voltage Celeron M processor, the F14 is a 4 HP/3U CompactPCI board, designed for embedded systems with high computing/graphics performance and low power consumption.
The F206 is a universal octal UART based on 3U CompactPCI and uses small adapter to implement the physical layer for each channel as RS-232, RS-422, RS-485.
The F600 is a 4HP legacy I/O extension card for 3U Intel based CompactPCI single-board computers. It can be used in combination with the F14 and compatible CPU boards.
The PU2 3U 8HP power supply unit is a plug-in device for 19" systems (e.g. VMEbus, CompactPCI) and is especially designed for computer systems in public transport vehicles, being fully compliant with EN 50155.
