Track Measurement
Standard Components Used in this Example
For the safety of passengers and freight, tracks must be laid to millimeter accuracy so that they are in the ballast without any horizontal or vertical offset. Maintenance of tracks is usually performed by special machines and during nighttime when railway traffic is lower. In this application the online track measurement is done with regular trains, replacing specialized measurement trains.
The system is based on a rugged customized CCA housing that is mounted underneath the train. It consists of standard 3U CompactPCI PlusIO Intel Core SBCs, mounted in CCA frames, plus a wide-range power supply unit and 3rd party measurement hardware. The whole solution is operational between -40 and +70°C, vibration and shock proof, and conformally coated complying with EN 50155.
