Diagnosis and Maintenance Systems
Standard Components Used in this Example
In one application, a predictive maintenance system is combined with passenger information services like pending seat reservation, current trip information and potential connections. The platform takes care of all data transfer between individual trains and the railway company's central servers via UMTS/LTE, WLAN and GPS. The system is based on standard 3U CompactPCI components like Intel Core based embedded single-board computers, PCI Express Mini Card carriers providing the wireless functionality and an interface card for GPS and serial I/O.
Railway Data Center menRDC - The One-Fits-It-All Solution:
menRDC can be used to extend functions of a diagnosis server towards a complete maintenance station, exchanging and comparing continuously data with a central maintenance center and allowing to perform also predictive maintenance. Thanks to its scalability menRDC is able to host any desired mixture of operator and passenger service applications ? PIS, surveillance, maintenance and diagnosis, efficiency management, vehicle-to-vehicle/land communication.

The DC15 is a rugged, fanless and maintenance-free human-machine interface (HMI) for the train driver cabin desk, interfacing for example as display control unit of the Computer Based Train Control system (CBTC) to the Automated Train Operation system (ATO).

The G25A is an x86 PC based embedded computer for industrial automation and railway transportation, featuring the Intel Xeon D-1500 processor of the Broadwell-DE server family with up to 16 cores. The SBC is a COTS platform for virtualization in an Industrial Internet Of Things (IIOT) environment. The G25A is also part of the menRDC Railway Data Center.

The DC17 is a rugged, fanless and maintenance-free human-machine interface (HMI) for the train driver cabin desk, for example as the operator display for CCTV control, diagnosis and maintenance, or fleet management.

The MH70R open source railway server is the central component of the menRDC railway data center with an Intel Xeon D CPU board offering 10 Gb and Gb Ethernet, USB 3.0 as well as wireless communication and storage.

The BL51E is a rugged, fanless EN 50155 railway and E-Mark automotive box computer for in-vehicle functions like Passenger Information Systems (PIS), surveillance and storage based on Intel Atom E3900.
