Intel Xeon D sur CompactPCI Serial – 16 cœurs pour le traitement et la virtualisation

Quelle plateforme normalisée – sinon le CompactPCI Serial – cadrerait pour tirer le meilleur parti des points forts du nouveau processeur Intel Xeon D? Le nouveau SBC G25A multi-cœurs de MEN relève ce défi : avec jusqu'à 16 cœurs CPU indépendants, des lignes de transfert de données à haute performance et le hardware pour la virtualisation, cette carte CPU entre dans la course pour une utilisation optimale dans les serveurs de données, les centres de données mobiles et la construction de machines virtuelles.

Gimme the data: 10 Gb Ethernet and PCIe 3.0

Based on the new Intel Xeon D processor, the G25A is MEN’s first CompactPCI Serial SBC which supports two times 10 Gb Ethernet on the front as well as PCIe 3.0 via the backplane. This enables a smooth handling of high data volumes.

The versions of G25A with 4, 8 and 16 cores provide concentrated computing performance and are at the same time the basis for virtualization applications. The required abstraction of software from hardware is achieved by the CPU’s built-in hardware virtualization support, the organization of the 32 GB DDR4 RAM and the scalability of the G25A standard models.

For security reasons a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is available. Safety functions are implemented using ECC for the RAM storage, a board management controller and a watchdog for the operating system.

While the G25A is prepared for conformal coating and can be equipped with a heat sink as well as being embedded into a conductive cooling frame, all components are by default firmly soldered and guarantee shock and vibration resistance. Therefore, the G25A is suited for applications outside of a protected server room as in a train or an airplane or of course also for complex applications in industrial environments.

The minimum standard availability of 7 years guaranteed by Intel and the implementation on the state-of-the-art CompactPCI Serial standard provide future-safety for the customer’s projects.
