Nuremberg, Germany - September 25, 2014. The EN 50155-compliant NM50 wireless access point meets all the requirements of modern railway applications. In addition to its robust design, the new unit comes with a wide range power supply for voltages between 14.4 and 154 VDC.
Flexible, robust and reliable
As a member of MEN's robust box PC family, the rugged, maintenance-free NM50 provides the same flexible and scalable architecture that enables fast cost-effective time to market.
The new NM50 is a wireless access point especially designed for demanding rail and automotive applications, and operates over an extended operating temperature range from -40 to +85°C. The electronics, based on a low-power QorIQ processor, are housed in a fanless, conduction-cooled enclosure with IP30 protection.
The wide range power supply provides voltages from 14.4 to 154 VDC (9 to 50.4 VDC is also available as an option). Additionally, it meets all the EN 50155 requirements for voltages ranging from 24 to 110 VDC, and is suitable for E-mark certification for automotive applications.
The NM50 supports two WLAN modules controlled by up to six possible antenna interfaces (four at the front, two at the rear) via robust RP-TNC connectors. Therefore, the antennas provide not just fast data transmission, but also diversity and safety of the signal reception, when all are used.
Two Gigabit Ethernet ports via M12 connectors allow a redundant upstream connection to a local server or a downstream connection to other access points, while guaranteeing better signal coverage and availability.
Flexible configurations, such as a different voltage range, Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality or various upstream links, together with the robust conduction-cooled housing, and its firmly soldered components make the NM50 perfectly suited for railway applications.
