Communication in Automation

Computer based communication of connected machines in industrial automation is based on multiple technologies such as fieldbusses, Ethernet and wireless communication. Where connectivity standards are still in the air, flexibility of the hardware architecture and open hardware standards are key.

The BE10A is a low-power entry-level box PC for industrial automation and comes with versatile I/O options, making it the perfect choice for many different IoT applications.

It supports all common industrial communication protocols like:

  • EtherNet I/P,
  • Ethercat,
  • Profibus,

on as many as four Fast Ethernet ports, which can be easily integrated thanks to the programmable PRU of the ARM Cortex-A15 processor from Texas instruments.

In addition, it provides a variety of I/O interfaces like Gb and Fast Ethernet, USB (2.0 and 3.0), RS232, RS485/422, CAN, binary I/O, audio, DVI-D.

One slot each for mSATA, microSD, PCI Express Mini Card und microSIM offer flexible expansion options for wireless functionality or storage.
